This web page was produced as an assignment for Genetics 677, an undergraduate course at UW-Madison.
My name is Tara Pulvermacher. I am a Genetics major in my senior year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My inspiration for this topic was derived from my own personal struggle with restless leg syndrome. At the beginning of my research, I had never had my restless leg syndrome looked into, but the symptoms seemed quite obvious. Therefore, I thought it would be an excellent topic to study. After starting my research, I decided to go to the doctor's office, during which it was discovered that I was quite iron deficient. I now take iron supplements several times a day and my restless leg symptoms have disappeared!
